# What is TV as a Service?

"TV as a Service" is a business model in which television content is provided as a service rather than a product. It's similar to other "as a Service" models, such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). In a traditional model, television content would be distributed through cable or satellite providers and consumers would purchase a package of channels or content. With TV as a Service, content is typically delivered over the internet (referred to as over-the-top or OTT delivery), and consumers subscribe to the service on a monthly or annual basis. This service-based model offers several benefits. For consumers, it offers flexibility and choice, as they can choose to subscribe to the services that offer the content they want, rather than being tied to a bundle of channels. It can also potentially offer cost savings, as they only pay for the services they use. For providers, it offers a more direct relationship with consumers and more opportunities for personalization and targeted advertising.
